Selected in-house communications experience
Turning a complex funding process into a clear path forward
Selected in-house communications experience
Context
Funding opportunities create a difficult communications task. Rules have to be accurate enough for program administration but clear enough for someone deciding whether to apply and what to do next. Dylan led the communications work that brought those needs into one more usable public experience.
- The challenge
- Potential applicants needed an easier way to understand technical eligibility rules, deadlines and application steps.
The approach
Rebuilding the path from interest to application
Dylan treated the project as both an information problem and a user journey. He worked with subject-matter experts to understand the requirements, translated technical details into plain language and organized the content around the decisions an applicant needed to make. He coordinated stakeholder review, developed supporting guidance and examined the experience through an accessibility lens.
What was delivered
- Plain-language website and guidance copy
- A clearer content hierarchy
- Application instructions and supporting communications
- Coordinated review with program experts
- Accessibility-focused content review
The value
Clearer guidance without sacrificing accuracy
The finished guidance gave applicants a clearer path from initial interest through the application process. Technical requirements remained accurate while stronger organization, plain language and accessible presentation made the next steps easier to understand and use.
